The 5 Best Tips To Start A Successful Morning Routine

We all know the story right?

The snooze button got hit 3 times, your husband slept through his alarm too. Now your both running around your house – frazzled, frustrated, and if your like me, hot!

Not to mention the kids are still sound asleep in their PJ’s, packed lunches and breakfast still unmade.

So not only are you late and grumpy, the rest of your family is too.

If this is you more often than not, then sweet friend you need a morning routine!

 

What is a morning routine?

A morning routine is often thought about as done by only “morning people”. And I get that but trust me it’s not. A morning routine gives structure to how you start your day through a systematic approach.

 

But I already have a morning routine, right?

Trust me when I say there is a better way to start your day than just running around like a chicken with your head cutoff! Having a good and REASONABLE morning routine that you vow to stick to will impact your family in more ways than you can imagine.

You know the old saying “if momma ain’t happy – nobody’s happy” well it’s true! If you start your morning off ruff, chances are the rest of the family will too.

 

I know the idea of starting this is terrifying but don’t worry – you can do this – I have faith in you!

 

The 5 Best Tips To Start A Successful Morning Routine

Be The First One Up

I know I know – this one is hard but trust me when I say it is worth it! I started doing this when my son was about 6 months old.

Before I was always cranky and running late. But now I sacrifice a small amount of sleep (even if it’s just 10 minutes) to have the house quiet and peaceful before the crazies start to wake up.

Bonus: This also helps ensure my husband (who is notorious for hitting the alarm at least 3 times), and son get up when they are suppose to. No more running late!

Get Out Of Bed When The Alarm Goes Off

Friend – DO NOT HIT SNOOZE!

If you do the tip above goes out the window. And come on, we all know it’s never any easier to get out of bed after going back to sleep. Sometimes it’s even harder!

So like ripping off a band-aid: quickly pull off the sheets, let your feet hit the floor and go!

Have Quality Alone Time

This is my favorite thing about these tips because as a mom and wife, alone time is rare!

This time in the morning is where I can drink my coffee and have prayer and Bible study time in peace and quiet. Even if that isn’t your thing you can still have your tea, scroll through FB, or whatever thing you’d like to do.

Like I said – even if it’s just 10 minutes I promise you’ll be glad you did it.

Get Dressed

Very self-explanatory. Get out of those PJ’s momma! Put on REAL clothes. For me it’s workout attire and then (after a shower of course!) clothes that make me feel good!

As a stay-at-home-wife or stay-at-home-mom, this can be so hard. We get caught up in chasing toddlers, cleaning up after breakfast, and getting our husbands off to work we forget to get dressed for work too!

So go on now, put on something – even if it’s shorts and a t-shirt – it’ll help you be ready to tackle your day!

Put On Shoes

This one can often be seen as an after thought but I promise you it’s not! My mom told me to do this a while back and it has changed my whole day!

The kicker is they have to be lace-up shoes – mostly because they are a bit harder to take off when compared to slip-on’s or flip-flops.

What’s the point of this you may ask? This helps you get moving for your day. I promise you – you will find yourself sitting or laying down less and less on the couch if you have lace-up shoes on.

You’ll be moving and grooving around your house – making breakfast, packing lunches, and chasing that toddler.
